Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh Old Town

Walking through the doors of our store is like embarking on a voyage through time. The modern show room displays a range from our exquisite collection. From briefcases to satchels, handbags to sporrans, belts to wallets, each piece lovingly handcrafted.

Marvel as the smell of leather awakens your senses. Feel the silky-smooth surfaces of your favourite bag and admire the delicate finishes on each and every piece.

Listen out for the sounds of our master craftsmen as they expertly create in our workshop. The slick of a new hide landing on the workbench, the satisfying chime of a hammer-tap as a belt rivet is secured in place, the smooth pull of waxy thread being hand-drawn through the emerging frame of a briefcase.

A warm welcome awaits you in our traditional workshop and showroom.

Watch our skilled craftsmen at work as you browse our shelves, stacked with rows of delicious leather treats to tempt you into a world of luxury handmade goods.

When you find your perfect product, our team are on hand to share handcrafted insights, including… options for bespoke orders, creative ideas for classic personalisation, and the top care tips for loving your leather long term.

The Collections we house in store offer a variety of readymade products to suit you. Always guaranteed in store are: our exclusive selection of career enduring Briefcases, Shoulder & Handbags to cater day-to-day life, traditional and authentic Sporrans, our family of iconic Gladstone travelling bags, and, of course, a wide range of Accessories to match.

Our newest collection available in store is a celebration of Great British design, fuelled by a desire to source quality hide and fittings from local suppliers. From 2020 we welcome The British Collection to our Mackenzie family.

Our goal is for everyone who walks through our door to be welcomed into the world of traditional leather crafting. “They can see the beautiful products which are creatively displayed in our contemporary store, but also watch our skilled artisans in the workshop. Mackenzie’s Creative Director, Elena Álvarez, adds: “We’ve worked closely with VisitScotland to reach the high standards they expect from their 5-star visitor experiences, and we are committed to continually exceeding these as our business grows. We are extremely grateful to the team at VisitScotland for their support and commitment to developing the tourism industry in Scotland, and to ensuring that visitors experience the very best of what this beautiful country has to offer.”
