Mackenzie’s Canvas Satchel is a waterproof compact version of our New Town Satchel bag, featuring a single buckle fastening. There’s also an inside compartment with an organizer for your phone, book or other small accessories. The back pocket gives extra storage space.

Note that the price listed is for a small size ~ W29 cm x H21 cm x D8 cm. If you prefer, the larger size is W40 cm x H30 cm x D11 cm ~ £641.67 ex. VAT. Please, specify this in the comments section at checkout. An email will follow with more details.

Mackenzie’s Canvas Satchel bag is a waterproof compact design of our New Town Satchel, the key difference being that it features a single buckle fastening, instead of two.

The Canvas Satchel has been a traditional accessory for English students for centuries, as attested in Shakespeare’s famous monologue, “All the world’s a stage”. The usual Oxford and Cambridge satchels feature a simple pouch with a front flap. Variations include designs with a single or double pocket on the front and sometimes a handle on the top of the bag. Mackenzie’s Satchel Handle can be added upon request.

Soft Hide Leather	Our finest Soft Hide is made from Italian and Spanish vegetable tanned leather, it ranges from 1.6 to 2 mm in thickness. A lighter weight, more pliable leather.
Bespoke Canvas Satchel	Our bespoke service, available on our Canvas Satchel, is versatile. You’ll cherish the experience on creating your own, unique and distinguished bag. Our talented team will guide you through a set of different colours than the ones displayed above. There will be a choice of extras that can be added to personalize your own bag, conserving its practicality and style like extra pockets, fittings or embossed initials.
Scottish Canvas	The canvas we use with our designs is made with 18 oz waxed cotton giving it high strength, waterproof and durability while the finish ensures the fabric looks better with age. The interior linings are made from 10 oz lighter weight waxed canvas.
Webbing & Leather Shoulder Strap	Detachable shoulder strap made adjustable: drop length is approximately 61 cm (24″) If you feel you may require a longer shoulder strap, please get in touch.
